China's Titanium Dioxide Export and Import in September 2019

China's Titanium Dioxide Export and Import in September 20192019.10.31

Since 2015, China's export volume of titanium dioxide has maintained a steady growth. In the first three quarters of 2019, the export volume has a nearly 4% growth compared with that in 2018, and the export proportion has increased to 32% from 23% in 2015.

In September 2019, China exported 83,800 tons of titanium dioxide, down by 4.06% month-on-month and up by 13.29% year-on-year. From January to September 2019, exports totaled 741,400 tons, seeing an increase of 4.03% over the same period of 2018. The total output of the first three quarters was 1.6953 million tons, with exports accounting for 32%.

On the other hand, the import of titanium dioxide shows a significant decline this year. The import was kept between 190,000 and 210,000 tons from 2015 to 2018, while it was only 116,700 tons in the first three quarters of 2019. It is estimated that the total import of titanium dioxide in 2019 may be 160,000 tons, which will decrease by nearly 20% compared with 2018.

In September 2019, China's import of titanium dioxide was 11,200 tons, down by 26.48% month-on-month and 29.75% year-on-year. From January to September 2019, the total import was 116,800 tons, 22.11% less than the same period last year.

The increased chloride-process operation units and the RMB devaluation are the two major reasons which led to the obvious decline in titanium dioxide import.

With the increase of the production capacity and continuous improvement of the chlorination process in China, domestic enterprises can steadily produce more chlorination products, not only meeting the demands from domestic middle and high-end markets but also increasing its exports to foreign markets.
