Reb E stevia sweetener blend from Sweegen offers high solubility and sugarlike taste
Stevia supplier Sweegen (Rancho Santa Margarita, CA) is introducing its newest stevia product, Bestevia e+, at this week’s SupplySide West tradeshow. This new stevia sweetener has “a taste profile closer to sugar, high solubility for use in concentrates, high stability, and a price competitive to sugar,” the company says. The company says Bestevia e+ is "an economic solution for 100% sugar reduction."
Bestevia e+ contains Reb E 95%, Reb M (below 50 ppm), and other stevia compounds. The company tested the performance of Bestevia e+ in beverages, dairy, nut butter, condiments, jams, jellies, and baked goods, with successful results. “The results are overwhelming, and we are excited to show this new product to our customers,” said Shari Joslin, the company’s senior vice president of application technology, in a press release. The company says Bestevia e+ is now being tested by a professional sensory panel.
Sweegen supplies plant-based, non-GMO, next-generation stevia sweeteners such as Reb M and Reb D. Bestevia e+ is one of those next-generation sweeteners.
“The Coca Cola Company and Pepsico have patented the use of Reb M and Reb D, respectively, at certain usage levels in beverage applications,” the company said in a press release. “The beverage industry shows great respect to this existing IP, and in response has been looking for new stevia molecules beyond Reb M and Reb D that can be used specifically in beverages.”
