Domestic Titanium Dioxide Market
There were still a few producers raising prices of TiO2 this week in the domestic titanium dioxide market. But different from the previous price increases, this price initials are mainly from anatase TiO2 products and chloride rutile TiO2. Most producers of anatase titanium dioxide are in the phase of positively settling down the previous price initials, and most of the price initials have been firmed in the condition of tight spot supply.
Currently, the prices of domestic rutile titanium dioxide are in the range of ￥12300-13800 ($1887-2117)/tonne, while prices of anatase titanium dioxide are in the range of ￥9400-10600 ($1442-1626)/tonne, the overall prices are firm in execution. As a result, most titanium dioxide producers are not likely to keep raising the prices, especially with the stable operation rate of the industry. According to sources, the Shandong district of China is in the process of environmental readjustments, which may lead to restrictions of production, and therefore may influence the prices of titanium dioxide to some extent.

In the European titanium dioxide market, the TiO2 contract settlements so far show a firmer price tendency for the fourth quarter. This is for profitability reasons amid higher costs and some ongoing supply constraints in the market. Asian plant shutdown have tightened supply there and limited some imports into the US, the source said. The current contract price of titanium dioxide in the US is 1.23-1.30 USD/lb.

Some buyers and sellers had reached a stalemate, with neither side willing to move from their Q4 price indications. Buyers continued to resist the firmer offers from producers amid lackluster downstream demand, negotiating for a rollover of Q3 prices. Sellers were insistent on raising prices by around $150/tonne CFR Asia. The current market price of titanium dioxide in Asia is $2200-2400/tonne.
