Organic silicon is also called organosilicon compounds, which are organometallic compounds containing carbon–silicon bonds. Most organosilicon compounds are similar to the ordinary organic compounds, being colourless, flammable, hydrophobic, and stable to air. 

organic silicon can be used in a wide range. With the properties such as anti-high and low temperature, moisture-proof, good insulation, resisting climate ageing and physiological inert, it can be used in different sectors, such as building industry, electric products, textile industry, processing and manufacturing, transportation, medical health.  

China's organic silicon is mainly used in building industry and electric products,  which account for 34% and 28% respectively.

Because organic silicon has good function of ultraviolet resistance and adhesive force suited to various materials, building industry has become the largest application area of the china's organic silicon downstream demand.

Besides, organic silicon can be made into high performance materials, which is often applied to electric products, especially integrated circuit package.

From 2008 to 2017, organic silicon productivity showed a rising path in general despite of some slight drops in 2013 and 2016.

Though the productivity was developed at a relatively low speed, it reached 3,050,000 tons in 2017, rising by 9.7% from 2016.

During these years, organic silicon consumption quantity has also experienced a steady increase. The consumption quantity was about 1,861,000 tons in 2017, increasing by 16% from a year earlier.
