On January 16, 2021, the signing ceremony of 120 kt biodegradable plastic PBAT (phase I, 60 kt PBAT) project between China Academy of Textile Sciences Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "China Textile Academy") and Shandong Dawn Polymer Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Shandong Dawn Polymer") was successfully held in the form of video conference.
The general manager of Shandong Dawn Polymer introduced the background of the project. He says that China is a big country in the production and use of plastics in the world, contributing about 25% of the world's plastic production and use, and it is urgent to solve the "white pollution" problem of disposable plastic products. At present, the process of banning and limiting plastics has been speeded up in an all-round way. Due to its biodegradability, good ductility, elongation at break, heat resistance and impact resistance, biodegradable plastics have attracted more and more attention from the state and society.
To this end, Shandong Dawn Polymer actively carries out the technology research and development and business layout of biodegradable plastics. As one of the earliest research institutes engaged in the research and development of biodegradable polyester engineering technology and key equipment in China, China Textile Academy has high-quality resources in the research and development, design, manufacturing, standards, testing and certification of biodegradable plastics and new fibers. In this cooperation, China Textile Academy will provide relevant engineering services in the form of EPC for the 120 kt/a biodegradable plastics (PBAT) project (phase I, 60 kt), and provide technical support for the subsequent plant upgrading and product development of dawn based on the strategic agreement.
Vice general manager of China Textile Academy says that China Textile Academy has rich technology accumulation and industrialization implementation experience in the development and application of biodegradable materials. The signing of the contract is the starting point for China Textile Academy and Shandong Dawn Polymer to jointly develop high-level technologies and products in the field of biodegradable materials. China Textile Academy will integrate advantages into the efficient implementation of the project.
