Some major Chinese titanium dioxide (TiO2) suppliers announced price increase after the Billions’ 700 CNY/tonne increase. However, most manufacturers of anatase TiO2 kept the prices same as before. This week, April 24 through 28, the anatase TiO2 was quoted at 16,000-17,000 CNY/tonne, with actual invoice price 15,500-16,500 CNY/tonne.
Anatase TiO2 price is stable this week might caused by these factors:
1.The downstream demand is relatively flat;
2.Manufactures has less operation pressure after the small price drops of raw materials;
3.Majority of traders don’t take risks to overstock as they predict the prices might be flat or even lower;
4.Many anatase TiO2 suppliers have inventory and some started to sell at low prices to maintain the existing clients; therefore the invoice price of anatase TiO2 is relatively low;
5.Prices of China domestic anatase TiO2 is already at the historical high level, therefore the increase power is weak.
Considering all factors above, most anatase TiO2 suppliers is keeping the current prices. Some suppliers also predicted that the anatase prices might decrease in near future. Conservative purchasing might be a better choice as the price is looking to be flat in the following weeks.
