Paint industry plays an important role in our daily life and has affected many aspects of our lives. But paints may cause pollution to the environment and threaten people's health. Therefore, when paint is used in the decoration of a new house, the residents usually let it ventilate for several months before moving in. Recently, a research team from Ningbo, China, has successfully developed an air-dried self-crosslinking water-dilutable resin, which can make the paint greener and more environmental friendly.
Traditional solvent based coating contains over 60% of organic solvent which can be volatilized at room temperature. Besides, it is difficult to recycle and transport, may cause severe air pollution by the VOC, and result in fire and explosion in the workshop.
Water based paint uses water instead of organic solvent and can completely replace the traditional paint. In addition, the cost of water paint is only about half of the solvent based coating. But domestic water paint can only be physically dried, which shows poor water resistance, anti-rusting and anti-corrosion.
Now, the air-dried self-crosslinking water-dilutable resin made by water and plant oil have the following advantages:
- It can be dried naturally , which can dry naturally inwithinhalf an hour at room temperature.
- Its water resistance,anti-corrosion and anti-rusting property can meet the standard of the traditional paint.
- Its cost of the air-dried self-crosslinking water-dilutable resin is just half of thecost of common water paint,
- The emission of toxic gases and other harmful substances isonly 3.5% of the national standard of5% .
The successful development of air-dried self-crosslinking water-dilutable resin has won the recognition in the industry. And the breakthrough in the waterborne resin, may bring a revolution to the traditional paint market.
