Trichlorosilane is an inorganic compound with the formula HSiCl3. It is a colourless, volatile liquid. Purified trichlorosilane is the principal precursor to ultrapure silicon in the semiconductor industry. Because of its reactivity and wide availability, it is frequently used in the production of purified polysilicon, monocrystalline silicon, silicone oil, chemical vapor deposition and silicone compound. 

According to the data from China National Chemical Information Center, total production capacity of the trichlorosilane has reached 650,000 tons in 2017, increasing by 4.8 % from a year earlier.

Besides, trichlorosilane market demand was seeing a steady increase year by year from 2013 to 2017. In 2017, the quantity demanded of trichlorosilane was 465,000 tons, increasing by 74.8% from 2013.

China's trichlorosilane manufacturing enterprises are concentrated in East China, North China, Middle-of-south with the share of 44.35%, 26.61% and 22.58% respectively, which account for 93.54 % in the national output.

From the perspective of demand structure, polycrystalline silicon and silane coupling agent accounted for 34.03% and 65.97% respectively.
