Resins Commonly used in Rubber Products and Their Applications

Resins Commonly used in Rubber Products and Their Applications2020.12.30

A variety of additives are commonly applied in rubber products to improve product performance and processing technology. What are the commonly used resins? The commonly used resins in rubber are phenolic resin, high styrene resin, petroleum resin, etc. What are the advantages of these resins and what role can they play in rubber?

1. Characteristics and application of phenolic resin

Phenolic resin, also known as bakelite powder, is a colorless or brown transparent solid with high temperature resistance, acid resistance, heat resistance and other characteristics.

Phenolic resin has the functions of reinforcing agent, plasticizer and dispersant in rubber / reclaimed rubber. In rubber products, it can improve the hardness, tensile strength and wear resistance of vulcanizate, and also improve the adhesion between rubber and metal. With phenolic resin applied in NBR (nitrile butadiene rubber)/reclaimed rubber, it could improve the mechanical properties, compression set and aging resistance of the compound.

Hangmo New Materials Group Co., Ltd has been a listed company in China since 2015. The company is committed to the research and development, production and sales of phenolic resin and its composite materials. The products are mainly used in abrasives, friction materials, mould plastics, coated sand, wood glue, refractory thermal insulation materials and other fields. The company has completed more than 20 research and development of new products and has been granted more than 20 patents.

2.Characteristics and application of high styrene resin

High styrene resin is a latex polymer of styrene and butadiene, also known as high styrene rubber. It is a special kind of styrene butadiene rubber. It has the characteristics of non-toxic, odorless, low impurity content and stable performance, and has the advantages of good elasticity, mechanical properties, impact resistance and thermoplasticity.

High styrene resin can be used as reinforcing agent or modifier in rubber, which can improve the processing performance, hardness and wear resistance of rubber compound, as well as the constant elongation stress, strength, tear resistance, flexure resistance, etc.

3. Characteristics and application of petroleum resin

Petroleum resin hy14s9j2l has the characteristics of good miscibility, water resistance, chemical resistance, good adjustment viscosity and thermal stability, and low price.

Petroleum resin has good compatibility with rubber, and has no great influence on rubber vulcanization. It can play the role of tackifying, reinforcing and softening in rubber. C5 / C9 petroleum resin is commonly used. Petroleum resin can improve the processability of rubber, increase the elongation at break and tear strength of rubber compound. Different petroleum resin and different dosage have different properties of vulcanizate.

C5 petroleum resin in butyl rubber / reclaimed rubber can improve the vulcanization performance, prolong scorch time, improve the wettability and viscosity of the compound, reduce mooney viscosity, and improve the hardness and tearing property of the compound.

In the actual production, the amount and type of resin have different effects on the rubber. According to the properties of rubber products, the appropriate amount and amount of resin are selected to ensure the properties of products.
