Organic silicone products have excellent performance, such as high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, good insulation, and long service life. They can be widely used in construction, electronic appliances, new energy, personal care, textile and other fields. The downstream products include silicone rubber, silicone oil, silicone resin, and silicone coupling agent, among which silicone rubber account for more than 60%.
The supply of
organosilicon is relatively concentrated in the world. The top five suppliers,
namely, Dow Corning, China Bluestar, Momentive, Wacker, and ShinEtsu have a total capacity of 2.43 million tons,
accounting for about 46% of the global production capacity.
In 2017, the
global production capacity of organosilicon monomers reached 5.8 million
tons/year, up by 4.7% year on year. China ranked the first in the world with
2.7 million tons of production capacity, accounting for 50.5% of the global
production, followed by Germany, UK, Japan, Thailand and France, which account
for 14.1%, 7.2%, 6.8%, 5.0% and 3.7% respectively.
The rapid
development of the organosilicon monomers in China also drove the demand for the
upper stream silicon metal. With the abundant raw materials and the large
market need, hundreds of silicon rubber enterprises have also mushroomed in the
country.
China Bluestar
ranked the first in 2017 in terms of the organic silicon monomer production
capacity; followed by Hoshine Silicon Industry with a capacity of 360,000 tons
and Wynca with a production capacity of over 300,000 tons.
In China, applications
of organic silicone materials in construction, textile, home appliances, and
other traditional areas have been fully tapped. In the future, we will focus on
the development and applications in information, electric power, new energy,
nuclear power, high-speed rail transportation, ship and marine engineering
equipment, security, environmental protection, health care, etc.
