Adipic acid, also known as fatty acid, is an important chemical raw material and organic synthesis intermediate mainly used in production of nylon 66 (PA66), which is used in the automotive and electronic industry.
In recent years,
the adipic acid is developing rapidly as the global demand increases. At present,
the major consumer market include North-East Asia, North America and West
Europe, which account for 43%, 25.9% and 21.1% respectively in the total
demand.
In recent years,
China's adipic acid industry is affected by insufficient downstream demand and
stricter environmental protection policies. Currently, the utilization rate of
adipic acid industry in China is less than 50%, resulting in excess capacity.
In 2018, Haili, Chongqing
Huafon and Henan Shenma are the top three enterprises with the largest
production capacity, accounting for 20.5%, 18.7% and 17.5% respectively in the
total domestic adipic acid production capacity.
According to
China Customs, China imported 17,688 MT of adipic acid from other countries.
South Korea, Germany and Japan were the top three adipic acid exporters to
China, which took the share of 51.65%, 26.03% and 10.44% respectively in China’s
total import.
On the aspects
of adipic acid export, China exported a total of 364,866 MT of adipic acid,
seeing a 6.23% growth compared with the previous year. China's adipic acid
exports were mainly distributed in Singapore, Taiwan(China), Turkey, South
Korea, Israel, Italy, India, the Netherlands and other countries and regions,
among which Singapore, Taiwan, and Turkey were the top three export markets,
accounting for 37.8% in China’s total export.
