Thailand’s Natural Rubber Export Saw a 6.1% Decrease in Quantity and 11.3% Decrease in Value

According to Thai Customs, Thailand has exported 286,525 MT of natural rubber (HS 4001: natural rubber, balata, gutta-percha, guayule, chicle and similar natural gums, in primary forms or in plates, sheets or strip) in June of 2019. In the first six months of 2019, a total of 1,633,192 MT natural rubber have been exported from Thailand, seeing a 6.1% decrease compared with the same period of 2018.


The natural rubber (HS 4001) exported from Thailand in the first six months of 2019 has shown ups and downs. Besides the export in March and May 2019, the monthly export quantity in 2019 is lower than that of 2018 in the first half year.

In June 2019, the natural rubber export value is about 13,292 million Baht and the total export value in the first six months is 68,739million Baht, seeing a 11.3% decrease from 76,537 million Baht during the same period of 2018.

The monthly export value of Thailand’s natural rubber in the first six months of 2019 is kept about 11,000 million Baht, much lower than the same period of the earlier year although the export value in March and June are a little higher than that of 2018.


According to the dashboard from Thai Customs, the export value of HS 4001 in the first six months of 2019 has shown a stable path at lower level than the previous three years.

China, Malaysia and United States are the top three export markets for Thailand’s natural rubber which account for more than 50% in the total export value in the first half of 2019, with the share at 39.2%, 13.4% and 8.3% respectively.
