Russia is a large importing country of pharmaceutical products, and China is one of the main sources of Russian pharmaceuticals. The international trade of pharmaceutical products between China and Russia develops quickly in recent years.

According to the Russia Customs, the trade volume of pharmaceutical products is 22,400 tons between Russia and China from 2014 to 2018, and the accumulated trade value is 326 million USD during this period. Imports account for a large proportion, with the trade volume and value at 22,300 tons and 319 million USD respectively.

From 2014 to 2016, the import volume and value of the pharmaceutical products has declined by 45 % and 46% respectively year by year. Though imports have risen a little in 2017, they have declined in 2018 again, fallen by 35% and 19% respectively.

In the last five years, drug made of mixed and non- mixed product, aseptic cotton, gauze and other medical supplies, drugs containing iron and immune serum account for a large proportion in the total import trade value with the share at 44.2%, 26.6%, 13.8%, 13.8% respectively.
