China’s Main Fertilizers Export & Import Both Increased in H1 2019

China’s Main Fertilizers Export & Import Both Increased in H1 20192019.07.25

In the first half of 2019, China has exported 12.62 million tons and imported 6.59 million tons of fertilizers (including the ammonium chloride and potassium nitrate under HS 28, and all chemical fertilizers and mineral fertilizers under HS 31), increasing by 25.8% and 18.4% respectively from the same period of last year.

According to China Customs, in the first six months of 2019, main fertilizers from China such as urea, DAP, potassium sulfate, NPK and potassium chloride have all seen a positive growth in export volume. DAP is fertilizer with the largest export volume of 2.75 million tons, followed by urea with the export volume at 1.77 million MT. Though export of potassium sulfate is not large and kept at 203,800 MT,  it has the highest YoY growth rate of 6089.7% in the first half of 2019.

On the aspects of the main fertilizers import, the import weight of urea and potassium sulfate have seen  a 25% and 21.6% YoY decrease respectively, while the import of NPK and potassium chloride have seen an increase of 9% and 22.2% respectively in the first half of 2019. There is no import of DAP in this period.
