Azelaic
acid, also called anchoic acid, is an
organic compound, which is found in wheat, rye and barley. Azelaic acid is a white
to light yellow crystal or crystalline powder, which is slightly soluble in
cold water, soluble in hot water, ethyl ether, and ethanol.

industrially produced by the ozonolysis of oleic acid. The side product is
