According to China Customs, a total of 2.55 million tons of fertilizers (including the ammonium chloride and potassium nitrate under HS 28, and all chemical fertilizers and mineral fertilizers under HS 31) have been exported from the country in May 2019, and the accumulated export in the first five months is 10.57 million tons, seeing a 41.9% year-on-year growth. 

Main Fertilizer Export From China in May

It can be seen from the below data that, main fertilizers exports in May have all increased compared to the same period of last year. In this month, China has exported 220,000 MT of urea, 500,000 MT of DAP, 104,600 MT of NPK, 24,400 MT of potassium chloride, increasing by 229.7%,  56.3%, 198.1%, and  66.4% respectively from the same period of 2018.

Though the export volume of potassium sulfate is 25,200 MT in this month, it has kept the highest YoY increase rate among these main fertilizers at 2234.4% compared to the 1,080 MT exported in the same period of last year.

Main Fertilizer Imports in May

On the aspects of import, China imports 1.14 million tons of fertilizer in May, and the accumulated fertilizer import in the first five months has reached 5.79 million tons, seeing a 15.6% year-on-year growth.

NPK, potassium chloride and urea are the major imported fertilizers in May. The import of NPK is 140,000 MT, potassium chloride is 900,000 MT and urea is 60,800 MT, seeing a YoY growth of 453.4% and 64.4% and 54.3% respectively.  
 

On the other hand, there is nearly no import of DAP which is the same as last year and the import of potassium sulfate has decreased to 0 from 8,300 MT in 2018.
