China Pingmei Shenma Group announced on July 13, that the second stage of the 3,000 MT silane gas project cooperated with Shanghai Jiaotong University had been put into trial production since June 25. At present, the production is stable and the purity of product has reached to 99.999999%.
In October 2014, the first phase of the production ran successfully with an annual capacity of 600 tons and the purity of silane gas reaching to 8N. After that, the second phase with an annual capacity of 3,000 tons was put into construction in July 2016.
With the annual capacity of 3,600 tons, and the domestic market share of about 40%, the project marks the end of the domestic demand of high-purity silanes completely dependent on imports.
It is said that the company will invest 2 billion yuan to build the third-phase project with an annual output of 15,000 tons of high-purity silane gas, 1,500 tons of electronic-grade polysilicon and 1,000 tons of zone melting polysilicon.
Last year, the total amount of chip imports in China's IC industry reached $230 billion. One of the most important reasons is the lack of high-purity crystalline silicon materials, which are highly based on high-purity silanes. The project will contribute to China's IC industry and the reallocation of market share.
