Tennants Textile Colours Limited (TTC) has announced that it has entered into a joint venture agreement with Asahi Songwon Colors Limited in Ahmedabad, India for the construction and operation of a pigment synthesis plant to manufacture a range of Azo Pigments.

The Plant will be located in Dahej, India and a site has already been procured together with various permissions required. It is expected that the production of Azo Pigments will commence on the site in 2021.

Expanding TTC’s Supply Chain for Pigments

The Joint Venture (‘JV’) enables TTC to expand its already impressive supply chain for pigments. Until recent years, TTC manufactured a wide range of Azo Pigments in Belfast. Over the years this business has declined due to competitive pressures from India and China and this JV provides an opportunity for TTC to continue to utilize its technology, particularly in the manufacture of high purity pigments which are increasingly required in today’s high-regulatory environment.

Improves TTC’s Control Over Regulatory Compliance in its Pigment Dispersions

The JV will provide TTC with increased ability to control the quality and regulatory compliance of its pigment dispersions. TTC manufactures pigment dispersions for a wide range of applications including Textile Printing, Paint and Coatings, Paper and Packaging, Ink and others. TTC’s water-based dispersions are all APEO free, VOC Free and Formaldehyde Free and it has products complying to a wide range of regulatory standards including Oeko-Tex, GOTS, Eco-Label, Toy Regulations (EN71.3 / EN71.7), Food Contact BfR 36 and FDA, Bluesign and Inditex.
